🇺🇸 United States — families who speak English at home

Online Qur'an classes in the USA — one-to-one, taught in English

Sunday school is two hours a week, twenty kids to a teacher, and a thirty-minute drive each way. Your child has been going for three years and still cannot read a line of the Mushaf. This is a different arrangement: thirty minutes, one teacher, in English, on a weekday evening — with a written plan you can actually check.

Three years of Sunday school, and still cannot read a line.

Weekend school is not the problem. Being one of twenty, once a week, is.

Two hours a week, shared twenty ways

In a weekend class of twenty, a child reads aloud for a couple of minutes. In a thirty-minute one-to-one lesson they read for twenty-five. Three years of the first is often less reading than one term of the second.

No thirty-minute drive, twice

For most American families the masjid is not around the corner. An hour of driving for a two-hour class is what quietly ends the commitment by November — not a lack of intention.

Taught in English, recited in Arabic

Correction and explanation in the language your child thinks in. The recitation is Arabic from day one; the teaching around it is not in a language they are still decoding.

Al-Azhar graduates — not whoever volunteered

Every teacher is an Al-Azhar graduate, tested in recitation and Tajweed before teaching here. That difference shows in makharij and in how a memorisation plan is built.

Female teachers for girls, as standard

Chosen at booking, not negotiated afterwards. A qualified female Al-Azhar graduate for every girl who wants one.

A written record after every lesson

Attendance, what was memorised, and the teacher's note — in a parent portal. You stop relying on "it was fine" from a ten-year-old.

Programmes — starting from zero Arabic

Every plan begins with a placement lesson, so your child starts exactly where they are.

Noorani Qaida — the Arabic letters, from zero

For a child who cannot read a single letter, including one who has attended weekend school for years and memorised by ear without ever decoding a word.

Reading the Mushaf fluently

The step most American kids are missing: going from surahs learned by listening to genuinely reading the page in front of them.

Hifz — memorisation with revision scheduled

A written plan at a pace that fits an American school week and sports season, with revision built in so last year's juz is still there.

Tajweed, corrected in real time

Makharij and rules taught by demonstration on what your child is reciting now — not rules memorised from a worksheet.

Arabic as a second language

Reading, writing and conversation for a child whose first language is English, so recitation carries meaning and not only sound.

Adults, reverts, and parents learning alongside

A private lesson with no class to feel behind in — for an adult who never learned, or who came to Islam and is starting at the alphabet.

How it works

Four steps, and the first one costs nothing.

Tell us about your child

Age, level, and what you want — memorisation, reading, or starting from the Arabic letters. Two minutes.

Families we teach across the United States

Lessons are online, so the drive to the masjid is no longer what decides whether your child keeps going.

Our teachers are in Cairo, which is 7 hours ahead of New York and 10 ahead of California. In practice that means evening slots on the US East Coast (up to about 9pm ET) and late-afternoon or early-evening slots on the West Coast, plus wide availability on Saturday and Sunday mornings. We will tell you honestly at booking which slots exist for your state — we would rather lose a booking than promise a time we cannot keep every week.

The scholars who certify our teachers — and teach here themselves

Every academy says “certified teachers”. These are ours, by name and position, with their chains of transmission published. They review what we teach, examine the teachers — and take students of their own.

Questions parents ask us first

Straight answers. If something here isn't right for your family, tell us before you book.

What times are actually available from the US?

Our teachers are in Cairo, 7 hours ahead of New York and 10 ahead of California. That gives good availability on weekday evenings up to about 9pm Eastern, late afternoon and early evening on the West Coast, and a wide choice on Saturday and Sunday mornings. We will tell you the real options for your state at booking rather than promising a slot we cannot hold every week.

My child has been in Sunday school for years and still cannot read Arabic. Why?

Because two hours a week shared between twenty children teaches by repetition. A child can memorise a lot by ear and never learn to decode a letter. The fix is a short one-to-one run through the Noorani Qaida — usually a few months, not more years of the same.

Should we stop weekend Islamic school?

We would not advise it. Weekend school gives community, friends who are also learning, and a tie to the masjid that a video call cannot replace. What it cannot give is individual correction. Most of our American families keep both and add one or two short lessons a week.

How much does it cost in dollars?

It depends on how many lessons a month and their length. Prices are shown on the pricing page before you pay anything — no registration fee, no materials fee — and families with two or more children get a discount. The trial lesson is free.

Can we have a female teacher for our daughter?

Yes, and it is a standing option at booking rather than a special request. A qualified female Al-Azhar graduate is assigned.

Do your teachers have an ijazah with a chain?

All are Al-Azhar graduates, and some hold an ijazah with a connected chain of transmission. Tell us before booking if that matters and we will match you to one of them.

What about summer break and travelling?

Tell us in advance and lessons are postponed rather than taken off your package. Many families continue through the summer from wherever they are.

Can I sit in on the lesson?

Yes, and for younger children we recommend it for the first few weeks. Every lesson is open to you without asking.

What do we need at home?

A phone, tablet or laptop with a camera and microphone, ordinary home internet, and a quiet thirty minutes. Nothing to install, nothing to buy.

Is the free trial a sales call?

No. It is a full lesson with the teacher who would continue with you, with no card details taken. You get a written assessment of exactly where your child is — useful even if you decide not to continue.
